Great week!

This has really been a great week.

Got two really good runs in on the treadmill, one with intervals, did my strength training, and have had a tiny bit of time to sew!

It’s been snowing all week. Wednesdays’ workout was “Shovel snow for 2.5 hours”. Yesterday, I had to laugh because it was my rest/off day and I managed to do 26 flights of stairs according to my FitBit. I think that today is going to be a rest day too. I’ve been fighting a bit of a cold, and I’m hoping that giving my body a break will help it out.

I have give up soda/pop/Coke. I’m surprised how much I have not missed it. I am also surprised at how much my sugar cravings have decreased. And I picked up a LifeWater, and it was so artificially sweet I could hardly stand it. That was an unexpected bonus. I have started drinking tea, but not a ton.

What does everyone have planned for the weekend? I will be hosting an essential oil class for some friends, and hanging out with the family Sunday.

Saturday Run =PR!

Saturday I ran 3.2 miles.

I walked outside, and it was SO nice out.. 41 degrees.. (mind you. . relative to the fact it’s been in the single digits for too long). I was like “OH IT IS ON!” and took off at bascially a full sprint.

I told myself I was going to run my best mile, and then run my best 5k. The first mile I ran in 8:47. The last two were 9:53 and 9:19. The last 0.2 mi I basically did just to make sure that I hit the 5k mark! I felt SO good about the run. I think by pushing myself on the treadmill, it is making a difference. Or maybe it’s the 2-3 days of strength training every week. Totally loving my Garmin 220 Post Run Saturday.

After that was the Indiana Brewer’s Guild Winterfest, where a good time was had by all.

Sunday was the Super Bowl, and I did a little English Paper Piecing for my SSM4 swap partner! Now to sew the hexies together.

EPPing Hexie FlowerYesterday, 2.5 on the treadmill and Lunch Crunch abs class, today was Thighs Butts and Guts (lower body and core) class. Since we are forecasted to get 8-10 inches of snow tomorrow, looks like I will be inside and making due with some planks and body weight excersizes.

Weekly update.

I should have titled this “Fail Week”.

It’s really cold. Windchills in the -20 F cold. Kids have had delays, no school, and have been at each other’s throats ALL week.

I have had a stiff shoulder/neck/back that will NOT go away since last weekend. We have had our bed laying on the floor due to a broken rail for over 3 months now, and I think it’s time to get a new frame and mattress. I have started using Pan-Away from Young Living, as well as Tiger Balm. Nothing is helping.  Thinking about giving in next week and going to the Dr to get a muscle relaxer and see if it helps. Yuck.

I did run Monday when it was nice outside, and had plans to work out Wed. The shoulder/back is worrisome as I find myself favoring it during daily activities, so I don’t want to do BodyPump or any heavy lifting on it; I’m afraid I will have horrible form and really hurt myself.

On from the pity party. I got my sewing room cleaned out, as well as the pantry.

SO much better. Not showing the "before".

After cleaning. I will be back soon to get some ideas on how to finish this!

I would really like to get to IKEA and get some cabinets to start organizing fabric in so I can get stuff out of my tubs out somewhere where I can appreciate it! I also got a little more done on my EPP from Sewing Summit. I will finish it yet!! I need to find some better thread, as the Coats and Clark I have keeps tangling. I found some “Thread Heaven” in a box, and will try that next week and hope it helps.

I am looking for a fast and easy quilt pattern that isn’t too complex, and could use a collection of FQs. I have a couple of lines of fabric I want, but I need a pattern first! All suggestions appreciated!!

I DID get hooked up with a team for Ragnar Chicago and I am SO excited!! Seems like a great group of people and that it will be a good time. It’s a mixed gender team, and most have run before. The first legs I was offered were over 13 miles with “hard” and “very hard” segments. I gracefully bowed out and the team was very understanding and we have a leg I’m totally comfortable with. It might be #1, but I feel better about it!!

New Year, New Blog! and a little about me.

Running is a outlet for me. I love to run. If you would have told me when I was 15 that I would be running half marathons and 10Ks for fun when I was 30, I would have laughed at you. Until I couldn’t stand up.

I was a runner in high school, but a sprinter. I remember once, my coach told me I had to fill in for someone and run the 800. I thought I was going to DIE. I finished it, but that was about it.

Fast forward about 15 years and 2 kids later. I realized after seeing the pictures from my son’s first birthday that I had to get active again.  That year, I ran a 10K mud run, and I’ve been running sporadically ever since.

I also love to sew. I sew bags, clothes, craft projects, gifts, basically anything that will fit under my sewing machine. With the evolution of Pinterest, I have also found the love of anything crafty!

My two kids are my life. Family first, family always!
